Helpful Hints on Roleplay

Since we may not be online at all time, it means that you, as apprentices or field medic students, are usually left on your own to roleplay through the process of learning as you will.

Lessons taught at the clinic are usually more based on science and fact than "leeches and spirits". Take it in progression and have your character learn it in steps based upon his or her relative intelligence. If we are away on a trip or simply not available, Master Gawen, the elderly man who runs the shop up front (who is also a master physician) fills in in handling your lessons.

If you would care to pick up on a few more specifics on Harsh level medicine, go to the site
http://www.johalla.de/EHG and do an artical search for physicial, healing and the like. Some of the things there fit, and some don't.. but it does give you some great ideas.

There always comes a time when you are alone, bored or you feel you have nothing to do in the game. Here are some ideas when you find your character with little to do...

  • Cleanse the tools.
  • Organize the bandages and other inventories.
  • Organize your to-go pack. Make sure you have some bandages, salves, your scalpel, water skin, etc. for any situations.
  • Tidy up the common room, the waiting room and the examination and surgery rooms.
  • Talk to Master Gawen, Cathal and Helmer. They all need conversation too.
  • Help Master Gawen to move the herb bundles around.
  • Learn a few things from Master Gawen.. anything, proper way to bind a wound, organize the inventory, run the shop, etc.
  • Rearrange the vials on the shelves.
  • Give the kitten a pat once in a while, and feed it.
  • Check on the patient and bring him some food.
  • Pick a book from the bookcase and study.
  • Put away books left around by others.
  • Find a topic to do some research into.
  • Practise wrapping bandages.
  • Chase after the peddler so you can get the juiciest apples for everyone.
  • Cook something for everyone.
  • Go around and check on the beggars and the gnarled old men, but make sure you don't go into any dangerous looking alleys.
  • Visit the hospice to see if the acolytes need help.
  • Visit a nearby village to see if anyone needs attention to.
  • Chat with the flower girl, see how her parents are recovering from their illness.
  • Mend your clothes.
  • Learn a second language.
  • Pray and meditate. You do not always need to use the worship command. Emote it.
Talk to other pcs, tell them we have salves and potions available, and educate them that if they get hurt, they should come and see us.
