Halea

"The Empress of Opulence, Queen of Pleasures and Self-Fulfillment, Maker of Bargains, Guardian of the Treasure Hoards of Heaven, Enslaver of Hearts and Loins, Unchaste Lady of the Ten Forgotten Acts, Golden Temptress of the Crimson Chamber."

Another fine day of work, Gerald, another fine day," said the old man, shuffling past the bench where Gerald stood hunched over a stained-glass window he was working on. Gerald smiled, knowing full well why his Master was in such a good mood. It was the Seventh of Larane, and he was always happy all day before he visited the temple. Who wouldn’t be? Fine foods, beautiful women to bed, and business deals to be struck. Gerald’s own father had procured him his apprenticeship with Master Yurvik at the temple one night- an evening he would never forget. He set about cleaning up his workbench, remembering what the priestesses always told him: "Halea rewards those that work hard and bargain well." That was just about all he could ever remember, his mind was usually clouded from the ceremonial meals and drink. Someday perhaps he could afford to donate enough money to Halea and spend time in more private worship with one of the priestesses. Until then, he would have to be satisfied attending one of the monthly Shesneal orgies and picking up whomever he could have. And he was very satisfied - but what would life be without desires? And he certainly desired several of the priestesses.

Halea is an amoral god of wealth and pleasure. Usually depicted as a stunningly beautiful woman, the goddess is commonly worshipped by merchants, indolent nobles, and the wealthy middle-class.

Halea's clergy is all female, with the male role restricted to temple guards and consorts to the clergy. Worshippers, however, tend to be male, mainly because the pool of wealthy individuals tends to be made up of that gender.

The church is not widely encouraged by most kingdoms, but finds some support in the Thardic Republic more than anywhere else; especially in the city of Shiran. Although not encouraged, neither is it illegal in any kingdom.
