The Harshlands has many different possibilities for new players to aspire for. There are fighting orders to join, private groups of like minded individuals that operate covertly such as the Lia Kavair and many others as well.

When one starts the game a character does not belong to any organizations much like the church, you need to join up while in game.

Some characters may rise within the hierarchy of their organization by pleasing their leader while others may earn the enmity of said leader and be cast out from the group for all time. The role-playing possibilities are endless.

Quartered red and black tabard

Comments: The Army of the Chelmarch act as an extension of the Kaldor Guard keeping the vast territory to the west safe from bandits, tribals, and the many other foulspawn which plague the area. Dedicated to their duty, they uphold a strict and firm discipline, and serve under the command of Deputy Warden Lord Bjornsson. Only those who are residents of Kaldor can enlist and no one who has previously been dishonourably discharged from a branch of the King's service can serve in the Chelmarch. If you wish to join, please email both Terentia and the staff with your PCs details (if you join via chargen)

Large Red Boar (ivory tusk pendant)

Comments: This Ivinian clan has been refounded, in the south of Orbaal, by two descendants of the old perished clan: Agarwaen Jarundsen (Wyrdsmaan) and Tarsakh Olafsen (Valhakar). Currently the Clan, calls home the settlement of Skovheim, which can be found in the lands between Anoth Ford and Ovien Ford. The Kalmagaaron, like most Ivinian clans, abides by the Ljarl, code of honour among the Sarajinians, but is also known for its somewhat uncommon perspective on certain matters. The Clans symbol, the great red boar, refers to some of its qualities throughout the ages: ferocity in combat, stamina, perseverance and unconditional loyalty to oneself and the clan. Two red, crossed axes

Comments: The Freeblades are a mercenary company currently stationed in the town of Geldeheim, on northern Orbaal. The company is offering a wide variety of services including escorting, bodyguarding, caravaning and combat training. This also means we are looking for all kind of roles – mercenaries, physicians, scouts, teamsters and basically almost anything that can contribute to the group. If you’re looking for a fun and not too restricting role - joining us is the perfect solution for you. The nature of the job promises ever changing role in different places, getting to know the vast world that is Harshlands. We provide gear and training, in return you’ll usually have to commit for a one year term. The veteran PCs in this clan play european evenings, so you're most likely to find us online between 3pm EST to 7pm EST, apart from weekends where we can be found at almost any time.

Quartered banner of black and blue

Comments: The newly build Cohort at Heras district, the smallest and newest branch of the Legion, has the mission of pacifying the barbarian tribes that plague the athul hills. The legion offers a different chain of command than the traditional feudal army, since it's part of a Republic system. Legionnaires usually take on apprentices so they can provide goods for the legion, and others dedicate to their careers for the 20 years required to get a grant of land by the senate. Citizens, freemen and Equestrians may all be part of the Legion, which offers good prospections and place to advance on rank. The enlistment term is for 4 full years, desertors are hunted and killed for treason. They get payed a salary monthly, are provided a bunk to sleep at, and two main meals a day. Come try a different life style, come join the Legion!

Green and yellow tabard

Comments: The Royal foresters are representative of the royal justice in forest hundreds. Royal foresters spend most of their time outside of cities, looking for poachers and criminals in their jurisdiction area. Foresters are very independent in their own patrol range and enforce the forest's law as they see fit, which causes some mistrust and fear among commoners of the farmed lands.

Coins and Dagger on a Field of Black

Comments: The Lia-Kavair is the Brotherhood of organized crime. Valid archetypes include spy, extortionist, vigilante, thug, pickpocket, burglar, fence, and many others. Think medieval mafia where anything illegal such as prostitution, drugs, gambling, theft, paid vengeance, extortion, and other unlawful rackets are the protected guild trade of the Brotherhood, enforced by its own thugs and contacts rather than the laws of the land. Membership lasts a lifetime, one way or another.

Comments: All Order is bout an Illusion and the raging Chaos that lies imprisoned within screams to be released. Within the black heart of the Queen's walled city, dwell the elusive Children of the Wreaker...largely unseen, yet present, spreading the Chaos, leading the blind to Morgath's unshakable Truth. Should you be equal to the challenge of living in the darker shadows, if your soul yearns for the bleakness of the Crypt...we are here...seek and you shall find.

A red, gold-trimmed standard

Comments: The Home Guard is the organization responsible of keeping order in the free town of Trobridge, located on the salt route, between Tharda and Kaldor. It's sponsored by the Mangai in the need to protect town and keep peace withing its borders. Beign the last stop before entering the dangerous Athul region on the way to Coranan, the Home Guard soldiers are well trained to survive in the wilderness, as they continously patrol the roads to keep them safe from bandits as well as the ivashu that gets close to town. We're waiting for you in Trobridge!

Twin Acorn

Comments: The Twin Acorn House of Healing is the only branch of the Society of Physicians that is still active in Tashal, Kaldor. They provide service for all the inhabitants of the city and nearby regions, and often travel out to Trobridge and other distant parts of the kingdom to assist in those places lacking sufficient medical care. All ailments are treated, and tended to, with outmost care, and thanks to the donation collection efforts of Master Elsabeth, treatment is affordable to even those who cannot afford it.

If you are interested in playing with the Twin Acorn, please see our webpage "Joining Twin Acorn".

An additional note. This is role that requires a good imagination and willingness to RP even when other PCs aren't around. Since Bethyn and Adriel are not always online, the apprentices are required to roleplay through most of their education (with provided guidelines) and the employees are left to manage themselves. Both of these require a level of honesty and good play that will hopefully come with any given character who wishes to join the clinic.
