Khuzdul

The Khuzdul, as they call themselves, are known as dwarves by most residents of Hârn. The Khuzdul live in the isolated and fortified Kingdom of Azadmere, where they engage in mining, metalcraft, and stonework; all of which crafts they excel far beyond human capabilities. Long-lived, the Khuzdul are shorter than the human average, but are broad-shouldered and quite strong. They tend to wear long forked beard, which they often braid. Khuzan women are rarely seen, and are outnumbered by males by a three to one ratio.

Khuzdul tend to be stubborn, and have long memories of past deeds or injustices. They are slow to make friends or enemies, but will never forget either.

Khuzan society is clan-based and orderly. Each clan member owes allegiance to the clanhead, who, in turn, owes allegience to the king. One is usually born into a clan, but it is not uncommon to adopt new members; and in rare cases humans have been adopted into Khuzan clans. The clan, in the mind of a Khuzdul, is of tantamount importance, and his loyalty to the clan is absolute.

Humans are rarely allowed into a Khuzan stronghold. The closest most non-Khuzan get to a stronghold is the village surrounding it; those human are most often the native Jarin of that village. For the most part, most humans would not wish to interact with Khuzdul, and more than a few human jokes poke fun at this sturdy race.

While humans are often not welcome in Khuzan strongholds, they are still tolerated by Khuzdul but for the most part avoided. As for the Sindarin, they are rarely trusted by the Khuzdul, as the Khuzdul believe they were betrayed during the Atani Wars and again when the Fouwlspawner Lothrim ravaged the Land. There is one race that is despised by the Khuzdul, and this is the Gargun who have a better chance of surviving a walk across lava than they do of surviving an encounter with Khuzdul. This enmity has many reasons, but the greatest reason is the pillaging of an ancient Khuzan fortress, Kiraz, by the Gargun years ago.

Khuzdul worship the god Siem exclusively, for they believe that one of Siem's divine underlings, Sereniel, breathed life into the Khuzdul to end their long slumber.

As a player race, the Khuzdul are restricted to special application only.
